Question
What is the past weather history for Mid February thru early March for San Diego to Hawaii.. I am cruising on Feb. 15 from San Diego and returning on March 2nd.. What do you long range out looks say... temperatures and winds please. .thank you..   roy

Answer
Hi Roy,

In most winters, that area is relatively quiet weather wise during that period. However, since we are still in an El Nino pattern which does not show signs of weakening yet, the potential exists for stormier than normal weather. What that could boil down to is encountering several rain and wind storms instead of maybe only one or two. This is not what we are actually predicting, since that is still too far away to tell. Who knows, you may get really lucky and have an extremely quiet and dry weather pattern during your cruise. If that does indeed happen, that would be great. However, keep in mind that along with clouds and potential rain, there will also be pretty strong winds out over the ocean.
As for temperatures, here are the normals for San Diego and Hawaii at that time...

San Diego: Normal High 67, Normal Low 52
Hawaii:  Normal High 81, Normal Low 65

I hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Dave Dombek
