Question
Hello, I have a strange one for you - I live in Calgary and am in the market to buy a home. The issue is, that I am affected a lot by the chinooks here (ie migraines). Is there anywhere in the city where the chinooks would have less of an impact (for example is it better to move to the far NE or SE instead of to the west), or does it not really make much of a difference? Thank you!!

Answer
Lisa,

I am not really familar with Calgary. However, since Chinooks generally come in from some westerly direction, I would think that your best bet would be to find a place that is exposed to the east, i.e., sloping to the east and down in elevation a bit. This way, you would be somewhat protected from the strongest winds blowing in from the west.

I hope this helped.

Sincerely,

Dave Dombek
