Question
Hi, I know you probably get this question often, but we are thinking of moving our June 2011 wedding to early October 2011 because we love fall.  Our ceremony/reception are both outdoors. We are worred about temps and rain.  Could you give me an idea for this area as to temps and rain for Early-Mid October? Thank you!
Zip code 17701  (and we will have a tent for the reception)

Answer
Jessica,

For the Williamsport area, here is some climatology information for the first 15 days of October...
Normal high and low temperature on October 1st - 68/47
Normal high and low temperature on October 15th - 62/41
Record high temperatures during this period range from 82 to 91
Record low temperatures during this period range from 26 to 31
Barring any tropical storms or hurricanes, October is generally one of the drier months of the year.
Two things to keep in mind about October:
(1) The days are getting shorter at a rapid pace, with nightfall coming earlier and earlier as the month goes on.
(2) Fog can be a problem in the Susquehanna Valley during the late night and morning hours anytime skies are clear and winds are light. In fact, on some days, it takes until almost noon for the fog to burn off. As long as you are not planning a morning wedding, that should not be a problem.
Of course, if you go with an October wedding, then you will have the beauty of fall foliage.

Hopefully, this helped!

Sincerely,

Dave Dombek
