Question
Hi Dave ... I am looking at two potential cruise dates from LA to HI, Mar 14-28 2012 and April 14-28 2012.  Can I expect any significant weather differences on the trans-pacific routes between these two dates?  Also, do you have any historical average temperatures for the trans-pacific routes during these periods?
Thanks in advance.

Answer
John,

I would say that the April dates are SLIGHTLY more likely to be free of any big storms. However, that will really depend on what type of pattern we are in at the time...La Nina, El Nino, or neutral.

As for temps, they don't change much during the March-April time period in and near HI. Average highs range between 82 and 84, with normal lows between 67 and 69. Closer to LA, the normal temps are in the 65-69 range, with normal lows between 51 and 55. That is also in the March-April period. Over the open waters of the Pacific, most of the trip the daytime highs will average somewhere in the 70s.

I hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Dave Dombek
