Hi Dave,

I live in Pittsburgh PA .  I was wondering why it is always I mean always cloudy?  I never see a nice sunny day!  I'm thinking to relocate to Charlotte NC. Every time i visit, it seems very pleasant. Can you advice me another state that is similar to the Carolina's?

I think it is an exaggeration to say that it is always cloudy in Pittsburgh. Yes, there have been many days recently when clouds have been dominant. However, with amost 15 hours of possible daylight this time of year, it is very rare to get a day when it is totally overcast from start to finish. There is usually at least a little sunsine at some point. In the right type of pattern, we do get nice, sunny days from time to time. Pittsburgh's cloudiest weather often occurs during late fall and winter.
As for what state is similar to the Carolinas weatherwise, Virginia is close, especially the southern part of the state, and also Georgia.

Dave received his B.S. degree in meteorology from the Pennsylvania State University in May of 1980. If Dave doesn't already have enough on his plate, he is married with two teenage daughters. He also leads a small Messianic congregation in the State College, Pa. area.
