Question
Hi my son and i are trying to find out without using a thermometer can you tell what the temprature is outside also besides watching (say the clouds and the birds) can this be done?

This is a touch thing to do, and really depends on the invidual. In other words, some folks are much more temperature sensitive than others. One rule of thumb you can use is that the demarcation between seeing your breath and not seeing your breath is generally around 45 degrees. Above 45 degrees, you normally will NOT see your breath, unless it is foggy and misty outside. If it is below 45 degrees, you most often WILL see your breath.

Dave received his B.S. degree in meteorology from the Pennsylvania State University in May of 1980. If Dave doesn't already have enough on his plate, he is married with two teenage daughters. He also leads a small Messianic congregation in the State College, Pa. area.
