Question
Ive got an old Alvarez my father had given me, was wondering any info you could give me on it. It is an Alvarez 5055 serial#98454. It is a sunburst finish with two f holes, individual chrome keys with double A's on top of the neck. Any information on this guitar would be appreciated. Thanks for your help and time.

Hello Rob,
There were at least two Alvarez 5055 models. One was the Maple JUMBO from the 1970's, the other the Artist BLUESMAN, circa mid 1990's to late 1990's. Yours is the latter, since the earlier model did not have the "f" holes, nor a sunburst finish. I can't give you a year for yours since the serial numbers weren't of much use in dating on most models, although this one COULD be 1998.
It's an all laminate model, top is Spruce, back and sides Mahogany. Nato neck, Rosewood fingerboard and bridge. Ivoroid binding. Die Cast tuners. Electronics were optional, system 500. MSRP 1997 $550.
