Hello D. Hughes!

I have a few questions about a Yairi DY91.  I've been playing guitar for 12 years (not that I'm very good - but I love playing and music in general) and I've recently acquired this upgrade!

I stumbled across some of your prior answers as I was researching and was amazed!  I'm attaching a photo, and I'd like to throw in two more numbers just in case they'd help.  The Serial Number is 64941 and the number inside the body, up by the neck, is 03 06 447.  (They seemed to be helpful in a few of the last posts.)

The guitar is in very nice condition with perhaps a few very minor cosmetic issues.  It has a pickup installed.  Speaking of which - this just shows my ignorance - I'm assuming that the pickup would not have been in the original guitar, is that correct?

Hello Dave,

I'm not sure exactly what info you're looking for, but from what you've given me thus far it looks like it's a 2003 model.  As for the pickup they were optional.  If you can tell me what electronics are on it, I can tell you if they were original to that model.

Basic info on this model is solid Spruce top, Hawaiian Koa back and sides (laminates). Ebony fingerboard and bridge. Abalone shell inlays/rosette. Natural finish/Gold tuners.

Alvarez/Alvarez Yairi, K. Yairi, S. Yairi, and Yairi and Son. There are also a few export models, Wilson and Samick by S. Yairi. NOTE: Due to very limited info available on K. Yairi, S. Yairi, and Yairi and Son models, without photo's I won't be able to do the research necessary to try and find the answers you want. Even then, we are talking about 50+ Years of guitar manufacturing, with hundreds of different models. A lot of which were exported to other countries, where info is even harder to find, so, I can't guarantee that I will be able to pinpoint your EXACT model!
