i have an alvarez , model number 5046. i was given this guitar by my grandfather who also owned a 1969 strat. my alvarez is in apsolutly mint condition. its not just me who thinks this , my guitar teacher loves. it doesnt have a scratch on it. , the action is soooooo close. its held its tune for 1 1/2 years. i was wonder what year my guitar is and if posible a ruff estimate of the price. it is acoustic/electric with the original pickups. the electronics on this guitar are great. the sound is comprible if not better than my J-45. I hope you can answer my question,

Without photo's the best I can tell you is that this model was made from 1970 through 1983, then Alvarez dropped it and started the FUSION series.  This model had several names, but most often was called the Alvarez Electric Dreadnought.  MSRP ranges from mid 1970's at $225 up to $299 by 1980's.

It's an all laminate model, spruce top, back and sides vary. Some are Ovangkol, some Mahogany. Rosewood bridge and fingerboard. Nato Mahogany neck. Individual Chrome tuners. Tone and Volume knobs.  Earlier models will have an adjustable saddle. Celluloid bound.

If in excellent condition might get up to $175-200 for it.  Most go for less than $150.
