Question

Angelica guitar
Can you give me some info on an Angelica Mdl 6810 acoustic guitar with serial number 04780021 that was made in Japan? There is one for sale and I have an interest in bidding on it so want to know if this is a quality guitar if in good condition as indicated. Any idea as to value of the guitar. Thanks!

Answer
Hi Benny
Havent heard of Angelica but theis doesnt mean its not a good guitar. There were literally hundred of brands of Japanese guitar from this era (I'd say 70s) and they were generally all of a good quality. Its not one of the bigger brands such as  Yamaha, Morris or Aria and the smaller brands usually sell for around $200. Judging by the finish and small amounts of ornamentation, you could say its a players guitar and not a professional instrument. It does however have Rosewood sides (and probably back) which is a good indicator of a better quality guitar. In any case, these old Japanese guitars whip the pants off ANYTHING you can buy for the same money brand new today, no doubt.
Hope this helps

Hello I can answer most question on anything to do with Yamaha acoustic guitars, as well as a range of other Japanese made vintage acoustic and classical guitars. As a collector and trader I have a pretty good knowledge of trends and current values. As a said, Yamaha's are my area of specialty, particularly any made at the Nippon Gakki, or Japanese factory.
