Question
Hi and Thanks for your input in advance. I have an Aria model A-551 serial #08497. I am curious about date of manufacture and type of materials used in construction. This guitar has a tremendous and beautiful sound and I enjoy playing it. I am interested in expanding my knowledge about wood selection in relation to qualities of sound as I will be building guitars for my retirement hobby. Again, Thank You.

Answer
Hi Max
These are great guitars! They date from the 70s and were made mostly my Matsumoku for Aria. Sorry I havent given an exact date.
REally find to find info (in english) on these old Japanese guitars. I suggest you go to google.jp and search the model, and there should be a "translate" button where you can translate most of the page into english. There is TONS of info out there about woods and guitar making.
Good luck!

Hello I can answer most question on anything to do with Yamaha acoustic guitars, as well as a range of other Japanese made vintage acoustic and classical guitars. As a collector and trader I have a pretty good knowledge of trends and current values. As a said, Yamaha's are my area of specialty, particularly any made at the Nippon Gakki, or Japanese factory.
