Question
I have a guitar model no.5022 serial no. 40425 said on a piece of paper in the neck hole that it was made in Japan Spruce top rosewood back and sides mahog neck fingerboard bridge mahog on peg. dealed with maple . What can you tell me about it?

Answer
Not a whole lot...Unless it's the Yairi model 5022, There isn't any real info out there on the General Alvarez line of guitars...  It is the company that seem to care the least about customer support and has one of the worst resale values.. That does not mean they aren't great guitars..  That just means they don't hold resale value.. people buy them because they are cheap, They are solid, and they play well. There is no way to verify serial numbers on the Alvarez guitars that aren't Yairi, if it is a Yairi, the serial number to date it is stamped inside the neck heel, not on the sticker. And that would give you the ability to date it.

If it is a Yairi, check the inside of the neck heel, and let me know, I did check the serial number you gave me already, as if it was Yairi, and it shows to be a 1992 model. Since I don't know where that number came from, or for sure if it is a Yairi model or general line 5022 I can't say that is correct..   :o)
