Question Hello,
I'm a beginner acoustic player and right now I'm playing simple power chord progressions. One annoying thing I noticed from my practice is that no matter how hard I press on the strings, there is always a buzz. I also tried to place my fingers as close to the next fret as possible instead of putting them in the middle of the fret, but it still didn't work. What's the problem?
Answer well, it could be a number of issues, one in particular, that is more likely to be it, you are pressing too hard, and not really holding your hand correctly... There are many right and wrong ways to fret.. And it's easy to hold your hand wrong, the right way is a bit uncomfortable at first until you get used to it, but will help in keeping your fingers square on the strings, and get rid of the buzzing..
My suggestion is go to http://folkofthewood.com and check out the guitar lessons on there, they have a tutorial on hand postion that should help immensely..
