Hi John,

My name is andrew and i have recently come across a "Bellini Guitar".
I have been searching the net for days trying to find out more about this guitatr, but with no luck.
It needs abit of restoration (bowed neck and slightly warped back plate). It is a beautiful guitar and with great sound. it's a shame for this guitar to go to waste.
If you have any information about the Bellini i would be greatful.

Cheers

Andrew

Answer -
Dear Andrew,

Bellini acoustic guitars are very pretty and they were made in the 1960's in South Africa. Some of then even came with a sticker saying "wood guaranteed not to crack!". I suspect  the slightly warped back plate is due to the climatic changes the guitar had to experience. If you go to google.com and type in "Bellini Guitars" in quotation marks like I just did you will find a lot of information on this guitar. Also some Vintage guitars are worth more in original unrestored condition which is a good thing to keep in mind.

Best wishes and could you please rate my answer,

John

Thank you John for your reply,

I have been looking up the net fot the past 2 days to get some reference to Bellini guitars and the only description i'm getting is the one from http://www.fret-dancer.com/viewguitars.php?groupid=19.
You also said that it might be a good idea to keep it as authentic as possible. Is there any restorers that would be able to repair guitar traditionally. (if so, have you got any contacts)
One more question. How much should i insure this guitar for?

Thanks Again

Andrew

Answer
Dear Andrew,

Here is how you find some more info on this guitar. Type in www.google.com and then type in "Bellini Guitars" in quotation marks just like I did and then you will find  a few websites. If the guitar is playable then I would not even consider getting any work done on it. However a good Luthier (guitar and violin maker) would be able to do the required restoration keeping it to a minimum. As far as how much it is worth ring up any Vintage guitar shop and offer to sell it to them. Then the true value will be about 3-4 times how much they are willing to offer you.

Best wishes and could you please rate my answer?

John
