Question I have a Westbury W5020 and I would like to know more about it. Can you tell me when it was made and perhaps what the value would be if it is in almost new condition and still has the original case?
Answer Westburys were made in Japan from around 78-82.. It was a Univox brand name.. Unfortunately there is little to go on to give you an exact year.. There are no databases to cross reference any serial numbers.. And the factory that made them burned down in the 80's... As for the value, these are fairly rare, would love to see a pic of it, is this the 12 string, I can never remember if the 5020 was the twelve or the six string model...Anyway, as for the value... Like I said, these are fairly rare, but not much of a collectible.. Most people have never even heard of them.. They weren't super popular when they came out, most people were interested in the electrics, which were a bastardized hybrid of a Gibson Les Paul, and SG.. They were kind of cool looking, And the price was very reasonable on both the electrics and the acoustics.. But more people opted for the slightly less expensive Harmony guitars at the time, even though in my opinion the Westbury and Ibanez lines that were out at the same timee were much better quality.. Anyway, I think you could probably get about $300 to $400 on a good day especially if you were willing to ship worldwide.. They get more for them in the UK than the States, and if it's in that good shape, I am sure someone would jump on it fairly quick...
