Subject: Once upon a time I had a wonderfull classical guitar

Question
Back in the 70's I bought a classical guitar from my high school teacher. It was an Espana from the label inside. I wish I had a picture. I believe the sound board was spruce and the back and sides rosewood. The truely unique thing about it was the back of the neck was flat. I have never seen another like it. I was in a phase in my life that I thought I would never play again so I sold it, and as I am sure is always the case, NOW I would love to find one like it. Any ideas?

Answer

Keep checking Ebay, also Pawn shops and even Guitar Center or Sam Ash. I will say that Dean has bought back the Espana name, and they are making some nice classicals, and they aren't that expensive.. Unfortunately, I have no idea what model this was, and there is no information on Espana guitars to give us any idea...

Wish I had more to offer...  But Espana is one of the many brands that there isn't much history on.As a matter of fact, the truth is there are thousands of brands that have no real information available, and only a handful that are documented. I have people ask me allot for the age of an instrument, and the value, and some get mad when I tell them that there is no way to determine age, and the value is only about $100, but thats it. Espana at least for the vintage ones, seem to run in the $250 range.. Good luck finding one, I also will be keeping an eye out. If I find one, I'll let you know...
