Question
james,i've read many of your Q&A's on alvarez guitars. I've found a model DY77, ser.no.8450,alvarez by Kazou Yairi, this is the soundhole label. the block on back of neck says Alvarez by K Yairi, Stamped or burned in. Is this a real Yairi? and do you know the year? Also what body size is this guitar equavalent to? a D-28 or J-45? the gtr. appears to be a dreadnought but the shoulders are in between a J-45 and D-28,I have both, with rosewood back and sides. Please respond ASAP,I don't have much time to aquire it. Thanks, littlerock

Answer
This is a Dreadnought, like the D-28..  It is a real Yairi, at least so it seems. I mean, without a thorough inspection I couldn't be totally sure, but it matches well with what I know of them. It is basically a D-28, It should have a mahogany neck, rosewood bak adn sides, with rosewood fingerboard.

So, If it's a good deal, go for it...
