Question howdy!
say, i just received a response from bill (at allexperts) concerning my alvarez parlor guitar...
SN: #03040344
MOD.#RP20SU
...but i'd like some more info.
*could you tell me when it was made (year)?
*where it was made?
*also, bill said that mine probably has ply sides/back, but i'm pretty sure that the sides are solid as well as the top. the inner (from within the guitar) and outer grain (what shows on the outside) appears to consistently match in those places where the grain is deep/demarked enough to go all the way through. if this is so, does that help to date it? or is this even possible for this model?
*also, what the original purchase price would have probably been. i paid $150 for mine...used!
IT'S A GREAT LITTLE GUITAR!
hey, thanks for your time. any info you might be able to give would be greatly appreciated.
thanks, jeff
Answer Well,
Basically, It's not hard to date, as you included the serial number. The first two numbers in the serial number are the year, the second two are the month. So, that means it was made in April of 2003. As for where, I believe all the Regent models are made in China. The retail on this would have been somewhere in the $200-$300 range. So, $150 is a great price for a great instrument. The sides and back are most definitely laminate. But that's not exactly a bad thing, The top is solid spruce. Congrats on the new axe!
