Subject: brand name of a guitar

Question
QUESTION: I bought a guitar at a goodwill store and the only marking I can find to identify it is in the sound hole and it has only the small case"q" inside. Could you help me identify the brand of the guitar? Thanks Ron

ANSWER: Hmm that's an interesting one Ron. Hard to say as the letter q is not much to go on. If you'd like you could send me some photos of it to johhny_11_11@hotmail.com and maybe that would give me something to go on.

QUESTION: Chris. As I looked at it, it looks like the top part of the cursive letter "s". It is also made in china embossed in the lacquer on the neck. If you feel like pursuing the answer that would be fine. It's probably a cheap guitar but it sounds kind of nice. I sanded down the bridge in order play more easily. Thanks for your time. Ron

Answer
Thanks Ron. The most important thing for a novice would be to arm yourself with as much knowledge as you can. There is some good books out there on building guitars mandolins etc. And lots of patience your first instrument won't be your best but it gets you the hands on education that you need for the second one.
