Question I've just come across two acoustic guitars from an attic that I cleaned after the death of the owners. I can't find any names on them anywhere. One of them was in a cardboard box with the return address of Gaytan Records, 200 West 16th street, NYC. The one from the box has a few numbers written inside but they make no sense to me. Can you tell me where I may find a name on these that I may not be seeing.I think that the owners may have bought these for their son who is now in his 50's. Anything you can do would be appreciated.

Answer Well, My estimate right now, is that they probably didn't come with maker marks, Allot of the old low-end instruments came with no real identifying name. The numbers inside the one might give us a clue to whether or not it's a Harmony. But I really could use some pictures. If you can, send them to guitaranswerman@jkoontz.com and I can take a look. Gaytan Records, I think(if I recall correctly) was a record store, and they stocked some of the very low end Harmony and Kay instruments.. There were some Imports coming in around that time, and most of them had no makers mark on them. So, it is really hard to tell without the pictures, and any numbers...
