Acoustic Neuroma/hypo-FRS

Question
I have read that 5 treatments of FRS is more likely to have higher hearing preservation than with 3.  Is there any published data proving this?

Answer
There is sufficient research to show that either 3 or 5 treatments of FRS have higher hearing preservation rates than either the longer protocol (25-30 treatments) or Gamma Knife, which is one session.  However, I do not think there is enough data there to be sure whether 5 or 3 sessions is better.  That said, I am aware that the 5-session protocol is producing very good results, and would not be surprised if someday the data will confirm its superiority over the 3-session one.
