Question Hi- I've just been diagnosed with a 2 CM acoustic neuroma. I have been having AWFUL peripheral neuropathy for the past 6 weeks. I've been tested for EVERYTHING (autoimuune diseases, etc.) and nothing has shown why I have muscle weakness and tingling. I know that the neuroma affects the auditory nerve, but is there any chance it could be causing this neuropathy?
Thanks so much.
Answer You have not told me whether the neuropathy is symmetrical or one-sided. You also have not told me which of your muscles are weak and which body parts are tingling. While in general acoustic neuroma is not likely to cause peripheral neuropathy, I would need more information to answer in your specific case.
