Question
i had a brain scan that showed everything was normal including my sinuses,....my question would a brain scan pick up acoustic neuroma if i had it?my ears ring real bad and my throat feels so tight and strange sometimes...and there is a pulling sensation down side of throat from a pulling buzzing ringing ears....sometimes it feels like im swallowing from up high in my throat and other times it feels like there isa lumpin throat
had throat scan everything ok...its up behind tonsils that i get this strange vibrating buzzing feeling and thats why i had brain scan to rule out tumours in ear or sinusess...i always had polyps in nose but this scan did not show them up
thank you for any help you may be able to give me
helen

Answer
A scan might not pick it up for several reasons:  if it is
not focused on the right area, if it is not MRI, or if it
does not have gadolinium enhancement.  If you have an AN,
a properly performed MRI with gadolinium enhancement should
find it.  However, given that your symptoms are not one-sided
(the ringing is in both ears), I would not be expecting that
you have an AN.
