Acting in Plays, Singing/Head Voice

Question
What exactly is a head voice? I've heard people refer to this when a note is too high to sing from their usual clear voice. I ask because I haven't had the opportunity to take singing lessons and I'm trying to figure out if I do this as well and if it's ok or not.

Answer
Hi Alexis...And thanks for writing.  Head voice is when the sound is resonating and residing in the head of the singer.  As a singer, you can learn to move the sound around in your body- from the head to the chest to the abdomen.  Basically, it is where the sound is coming from.

Does that help you?
