Acting in Plays, Singing/first b'way audition coming up fast!

QuestionHi...I'm wondering if you can help me. I found out about an open call for Telsey & Co. just a few days ago. It's at the end of the month and will be my first b'way audition..and also my first audition in almost 10 years. I'm a classically trained soprano w/ excellent belt to High F. My problem...picking a song. They say to bring pop/rock or contemporary musical song...I'm just not sure how contemporary you know? I'm thinking "Stranger to the Rain" from Children of Eden...but then again, also thinking of going the pop/rock route w/ "Every little thing she does is magic" from The Police. Any suggestions? Where it's call for multiple shows, I'm really just not sure which direction to go in. Any suggestions would be very helpful!
Thanks!!!
AnswerGo to your local music store or amazon.com and purchase The Singer's Musical Theatre Anthology (soprano) versions.
You may also find it at your library.
I highly recommend it as a valuable investment for anyone who is going to be doing musical theatre. I own all the soprano volumes myself.
Play around with the pieces in the anthology. Find something that suits your voice and that makes you feel confident. Practice!
It is hard to recommend a specific song without ever having heard you sing. I would check out the anthologies and find one there. Once you find something let me know what you pick and if you want audition tips.
Good luck!!
