Question
Hi!!! I'm from Mexico, I need your advice about choosing a song audition for Sweet Charity . I'm a soprano but I can Belt. And if you have another advice to make better my audition i appreciate it. Thanks for your time."

Answer
Eva...Thanks for writing.

Auditioning for Sweet Charity is just like auditioning for every other show.  You want to do a song that will show your range and ability and confidence.

So I usually do not suggest certain songs.  I usually suggest that you go to a library and find a song that is for sopranos.  Find one you like and learn first the tune.  Once you know that without any trouble, then learn the words.  Once you know the words without any trouble, put the words and music together.

Then figure out one or two verbs to describe what it is that you are trying to accomplish with the performance of the song.  The lyrics will help you decide these.  Once you know your verbs, then choose one or two actions to go with your performance.

Leave yourself lots of time to practice and ready.  Then breathe deeply and enjoy your audition.

Does that help?
