Question Hi!
I am considering auditioning for the role of Daisy Mae in Lil' Abner. I have never seen this show before, so I am unsure if I qualify. I am 14 years old, but I look about 15 or 16. My community theatre also has a tendancy to cast people who are younger than the actual character. I am also a Mezzo-Soprano. Do you think I would qualify?
Thanks!
Answer Hi Amanda!
I loved being in this show! It's a very funny, corny, musical. Daisy Mae is blonde, ditzy down-home girl and is the "want" of most of the men in "Dogpatch USA." While your age is a little bit off the mark (usually Daisy is cast about 18), you should go for it. In fact, they might cast a younger Abner which would make the stage chemistry perfect. You never know what a director is thinking when it comes to age, so definitely put your best foot forward. I'm very interested to hear what music piece you'll be auditioning. Best of luck to you!
