Acting in Plays, Singing/gypsy- louise
Expert: Sean Martinfield - 12/5/2009
QuestionHello,
My local theater is going to be have auditions for Gypsy, and I'm looking to try out for either June or Louise, but pretty much Louise. I don't really know what song to sing, considering she sings different genres in the show itself. Any suggestions? I'm 17 and my range in an E below middle C to a belt to a D. and headvoice to about a g (top of the staff). Thank you!
AnswerHi, Amanda –
Thank you for the question.
Consider any of the following songs for your audition as “Louise” in GYPSY.
Always True To You In My Fashion – KISS ME KATE
Broadway Baby – FOLLIES
Don’t Tell Mama – CABARET
I Can Cook Too – ON THE TOWN
The Lady Is A Tramp – BABES IN ARMS
Whatever you choose to sing, keep Louise’s agenda in mind. She’s a stripper. Any of these songs could be performed on a runway.
