Acting in Plays, Singing/NINE and Reefer Madness
Expert: Sean Martinfield - 3/21/2009
QuestionHello, over this summer I will be auditioning for both nine and reefer madness. However, I have no idea as to what songs I should pick for either of them since they are so diverse than to what I know already. Any ideas as to what songs to pick? I am a tenor but can also do baritone when needed. Thank you again!!! :)
AnswerHello, Michael –
Thank you for the question.
If you are a tenor, then you must audition as a tenor and indicate your range (lowest note to highest note) as a tenor on your resumé. No one is interested in your quasi-baritone.
Maury Yeston's NINE and the new REEFER MADNESS are two totally different shows.
Consider any of the following:
Easy Street – ANNIE
She's Got a Way – MOVIN' OUT
Left Behind – SPRING AWAKENING
December 1963 (Oh, What A Night) – JERSEY BOYS
A Bit Of Earth – A SECRET GARDEN
At The Grand Hotel – GRAND HOTEL
Forbidden Fruit – THE APPLE TREE
I want you to get the following anthologies. The songs indicated above are within them, and they are published in the same keys as the original score. You will want to know and consider having them in your audition portfolio. Click on or paste the URL into your browser to order on-line:
