I'm really sorry, I asked this question before but I accidentally sent it before I was done.
Let me recap:
Hi, I'm 15 years old, and I am auditioning for Cats this weekend. The audition needs to be about a minute long, and we need to use a song from a musical. Since we need sheet music, I only have songs from these musicals available to me:
Bye Bye Birdie
Crazy For You
Mamma Mia

I am an alto. Which song(s) (and which part of the song) would you recommend? (It's supposed to show our range, but the problem is, I don't know my exact range. Would it be useful for me to use my keyboard and find out? And how exactly do I do that? I read about this online, but I don't understand how to tell if a note is within my range or not.)

Thank you for the question.

Whenever possible, it's always a good idea to sing another song – not from the show – by the same composer.  Webber has a huge repertoire to choose from.  You can sing anything you want as long as you have the sheet music printed out in the key that suits your range, demonstrates your vocal category, i.e., soprano, alto, etc., and reflects the demands of the score.

"English Teacher" from BYE BYE BIRDIE and "Could You Use Me" from CRAZY FOR YOU are good choices.  At this point, the best advice I can give you is to sing the number you know best.  Whatever song that may be, do it in the manner of CATS.

Experience

As a vocal coach, I work primarily with singers and actors throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. My students range from absolute beginners to working professionals, from pre-schoolers to senior citizens. The vast majority of my clients come to me through recommendation. I know how to identify any singer's vocal category, i.e., soprano, tenor, alto, baritone, etc. I know how to muscle-up every singer's vocal range and to expand it beyond conventional definitions. I have developed a vocal methodology for those who want to know how to belt, THE BELTER'S METHOD. As a singer who spent half of his career doing Bel Canto, I know that classical or Italian methodologies do not work in Standard American music. Bel Canto cannot be "adapted" to meet the needs of contemporary American music, including the demands of the Musical Theatre. There are a number of major components to my work as a vocal coach. The first is to identify the client's vocal category and to strengthen and maximize the vocal range accordingly. Then it's about teaching a reliable vocal workout that will enable the client to gain better control of their musicianship. That includes scale work to expand the vocal range and to improve placement, breath control, and diction. Then we work on material for the audition portfolio, the immediate job or assignment, a recording session, etc. My task to is to better equip singers and actors who are hoping to or relying upon their performance skills and vocal endurance to maintain a career in the Performing Arts.
