Acting in Plays, Singing/Alto Audition Song

Question
Hello! I am an alto and I am 16 years old. Every year, my school does a POPS concert where everyone in choir has the opportunity to sing a more popular song unlike the older/less familiar ones we normally do. I have been on the hunt for an upbeat, solo alto piece.Who ever knew that finding a song that's appropriate for a high school concert,is upbeat, and in alto range could be so difficult!
I have managed to find one I kind of like, it's called 'Alto's Lament'by Zina Goldrich I think. I was wondering if you had any other song suggestions?
Thank you!

Answer
Hi Annalisa...And thanks for writing.

What a gorgeous name you have :)

You are doing the right thing by looking for songs.  In the library, you will be able to listen to a lot of songs that are specifically categorized as alto songs and then choose the one that is most appropriate and that you can also relate to.

If you like the song you found, then I would go ahead and do that.

It's just not something I can easily do through this website - find a song that suits you.  I would have to see you and get to know you better to suggest a song.  And even then, it would be difficult to say if the song is right for you until you work on it for a while.

So that is about as much help that I can be.

Does that help you at all?
