Acting in Plays, Singing/Audition Peice
Expert: Sean Martinfield - 4/26/2009
QuestionI'm a 16 year old soprano auditioning for a production of Gypsy. I'm really interested in the role of Louise. I need an audition song that shows a lot of emotion and that isn't overdone. I'm also not a belter. Do you have any suggestions?
AnswerHi, Jillian –
Thank you for the question.
The role of "Louise" in GYPSY is surprisingly deceptive. It helps to have a great figure.
Consider any of the following:
Another Hundred People – COMPANY
Dance: Ten; Looks: Three – A CHORUS LINE
Don't Tell Mama – CABARET
I Can Cook Too – ON THE TOWN
Whatever you choose to sing, you must push Louise's agenda through it.
