Question
Hi,

I'm 19 years old, male, and I'm auditioning for rent at a theatre in my area in about a month. I really want the role of Mark and I think I have the right look and particular set of skills. I just don't know what to sing at the audition. Any help would be awesome and greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and answer my question!

Much Obliged,
Nathan

Answer
Hi there, Mark...And thanks for writing.

Congrats on the audition!  I hope you get the part of Mark.  Just a note about wanting a particular part - as an actor and performer, you have control over how well you do the audition.  THAT is what you should be focused on.  Most of the time, you do not have the ability to ask for a particular part.  That is the role of the director and producer.  So I want to encourage you to focus on doing a great audition and leave the decision to them.

Regarding a song, the best way to find a song is to go to your local library and find the musical songs that are categorized in ranges and listen to a bunch in your range.  Look for a song you like and that you think will show your skill and one that you can relate to.  Once you find it, then prepare well.

Does that help you?
