QuestionQUESTION: my lowest note is an e in the tenor range and my highest is a c#6 above the treble clef staff.. am i a soprano? I can sing the phantom of the opera and can sing all the notes in the song except, for the very last one at the end? I also had very basic opera trainning but I'm un sure of my range.. i know I'm some type of soprano..some lady i go to church with said I'm a light lyric because I can sing with tarja turunens cd and keep up nicely but my voice isn't as heavy as hers.. my vocal coach told me to sing with opera cd's to work on my range
ANSWER: Hi there, Jen...And thanks for writing.
It sounds like you are indeed a soprano. If you have a vocal coach, he or she could confirm that for you.
Singing with opera cd's will help you increase your range. However, to technically get very clear and precise, it is better for you to do scales and exercises with simple music.
Ask your vocal coach for help in discovering some scales and exercises that you can do to help with this other than opera cd's.
Does that help you?

AnswerHi there, Jen...And thanks for writing back.
Keep rehearsing with the CD's. But remember to learn some scales and other exercises from your coach to help you get really clear and precise sound.
I do not know of any web pages for the vocal ranges. Why not try to Google that and see what you find.
Be well...
