Acting in Plays, Singing/Seussical!

QuestionHello! I ask Sean Martinfield but then I had to re-ask my question, and then he can't answer any questions..I'm not sure!
Anyway, this year, my high school is doing Seussical. I'm a senior and last year I was kind of thrown a curve ball. But this year, I'm learning the show inside out backwards, and forwards, upside down and all around. Auditions are the 20th of this month, and I REALLY want Gertrude. I was wondering if you had any tips that you could give me to help me nail my audition! Thank you!!
Stacy
AnswerStacey! Great to hear from you. Thanks for seeking an answer from someone. :)
Auditions - you have the power to show your skill to the best of your ability. Some things you can do are:
1. Find a piece that is in your range but still challenges you, that you understand, that you can relate to, that you love. If it fits all of this criteria, then it is a great piece for you.
2. Prepare well. Practice lots. Make bold choices. Have fun.
3. Have a great attitude. It is good to know what you are aiming for. But also remember that the Director knows what they are looking for long before they get into auditions. There is always a chance that you can change their minds though. So go for it! Do a great audition and let that speak. If you do not get the part you are looking for, then you were not the best person for the role. Trust that and learn from it and move on.
Does that help you?
