QUESTION: I am auditioning for either Hodel or Chava in Fiddler On The Roof. I've done this musical before in school but was able to sing a song from ther show. This time I have to sing a traditional Broadway song ( not from Fiddler). Do you have any suggestions?

What are some of the traditional Broadway shows that you have seen or know of?  Are there any that you love and can relate to?  If there are, then choose a song from one of those.

QUESTION: Well, I was hoping that you would suggest a particular song that would work since Hodel sings Far From The Home I Love..I was thinking about I'd Give My Life For You from Miss Saigon. What do you think?

Hi there, Kathie...And thanks for writing back.

Although I would love to suggest music to anyone for audition pieces, the best I can do from this vantage point is direct you the library to find something for yourself.  The reason is that I have very little knowledge about you personally, I have never heard you or have seen you sing, and I do not know your range.  Even by video, I would not be able to determine the best fit song for you because I would need to experience you and get to know you in a vocal class, in a musical, or coaching to best determine that.  It would not be fair to you for me to give you a song that could possibly work.

What I can do though is ask you questions that will assist you in your search...

So, the song you have chosen is a good pick if it meets the following criteria:
*Do you like the song?
*Does it show your talent?
*Is it in your range?
*Can you relate to the song?
*Is it within your ability to do?  (as in is it hard enough to challenge you but not too hard to prepare)
