QuestionHi I am auditioning for a drama school in a few weeks and I was wondering if you had any good monologues for teenage boys
AnswerHi there....
Congrats, Eric, on your audition. I wish you success.
Although I would love to suggest a monologue, it is integral to your success that I do not. First of all, I do not know you at all. Furthermore, I have not seen you perform nor have I any idea of your experience or your level of ability. So it would be rather difficult for me to pinpoint what kind of monologue would work for you.
However, I can suggest that you go to your local library and look up monologues for males. Read many to find one. Another way to find one is that if you know of a play or a musical that you love, look at a copy of that and find a piece in the play that you can do. It's best if you know the play that your monologue is coming from.
What you want to look for is a piece that you can understand, something that shows your ability but is not too difficult to grasp, and you want to be able to relate to the piece personally - a personal connection to it. Once you find this piece, prepare it well.
One of the keys to being a successful artist is that you are able to find your material and develop it on your own.
I hope this gives you some hope and some help as you prepare.
