Expert: Sean Martinfield - 1/7/2011
Questionmy name is Karina. I have been inspired by Christina Alguilera . she has such an amazing voice. I think if i had a wish it would be to have her voice. i don't know what class to choose for me. i have no singing experience. so i don't know if i can become an amazing singer like her. please help!
AnswerHi, Karina –
Thank you for the question.
There is no single class to take that will enable you to perform like Christina Aguilera.
As a professional singer – with all kinds of celebrities who influenced me along the way – I know that the best thing you can do, in addition to developing your voice, is to study her career and her products. Like every other major pop star, Ms Aguilera requires a state-of-the-art sound studio and a team of sound engineers – whether she's recording, singing in concert, or appearing on "Saturday Night Live". She is a Product. Performers on this level work with a team of Image Artists, i.e., personal fitness trainers, make-up and hair people, fashion consultants, and have professional representation. Christina and all her producers need her products to make money. It's a business. Study the business known as the Music Industry. Studying the work of a particular performer is one way to get acquainted with it.
Being an "amazing singer" comes with time and through opportunities. It's also about every aspect of Box Office appeal you can imagine. Obviously, you have to develop your vocal chops. My job as a professional coach is to train you how to strengthen, expand, and maintain your vocal range. Your job is to become the most informed musician possible.
Are you thinking of majoring in Music, perhaps attending a Conservatory? By the time you are ready to record your first demo, whoever and whatever is on the charts right now will have long-ago faded from memory.
What kind of music do you want to sing?
