Acting in Plays, Singing/Men’s Chorus
Expert: Sean Martinfield - 4/2/2011
QuestionHello:
In a play using a men’s chorus, are the men usually standing and singing together not moving on stage or do they dance or move on the stage as the sing.
I thank you for your reply.
AnswerHi, Kenneth –
Thank you for the question.
It would be very unusual for the ensemble to not dance in a musical. Some musicals have more heavy-duty dancing requirements than others. But overall, anyone looking to sustain a career – or an elaborate non-paying hobby – in musical theatre, must anticipate dancing auditions no matter how good they are vocally.
