Acting in Plays, Singing/Into The Woods Audition
Expert: Sean Martinfield - 6/21/2011
QuestionHi Sean,
I'm a junior in high school and have an audition for Into The Woods coming up. I'm a Bass-Baritone and am not fully aware of anything higher than that. I would like do audition for the Baker but am having trouble finding a proper piece to sing. Could you please help me choose an audition song that will show off my range and fits the role of the Baker?
Thank you,
Parker
AnswerHello, Parker:
Consider any of the following for your audition:
Buddy's Blues – FOLLIES
Everybody Says Don't – ANYONE CAN WHISTLE
How About You? (by Ralph Blane) – BABES ON BROADWAY
I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm – WHITE CHRISTMAS
Love Is Here To Stay – AN AMERICAN IN PARIS
Keep in mind the Witch's curse upon the Baker. She has zapped him into impotence. And sends him a few more zaps just out of meanness. Hence, there's a lot of frustration going on between him and the Missus. As a comedian, you must get this point across. And after the spell is lifted, you have to advance towards her like it's been a long-long-time, honey!
