Acting in Plays, Singing/Once on this Island Audition
Hi Mr. Martinfield!
I have an audition for Once on this Island in a few weeks and I'm having trouble finding an audition piece. I'm a soprano (range E3 to E6 with a strong low range and decent belt) and auditioning for Ti Moune. Any suggestions?
Thanks so much!
Hi, Lauren --
Thank you for the question.
In case the Music Director asks you -- be prepared to sing all of Ti Moune's material.
If I'm on your audition panel and you are in the ballpark of what the Producer is looking for, then I'm going to ask you to do exactly that. Sing it for me now.
Once you know you can, then that will have an effect on whatever you choose to sing at your audition. Simply stated, sing in the manner of Ti Moune.
Consider Alan Menken's "When Will My Life Begin?" from Disney's TANGLED.
