Acting in Plays, Singing/Audition Song
Expert: Wanda Reinholdt - 12/3/2007
QuestionHi,
I am considering auditioning for my high school musical this year. I am an ok singer and have been looking for an audition song from a Cole Porter Musical with the exception of "Anything Goes" which is our spring musical this year. If you could help me I am looking for an upbeat alto song, but where there is no belting because I am still a little timid when singing so belting would not be the best choice for me. So if you could help me I would be very grateful.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks
AnswerHi Ashley. Thanks for writing. And I hope you do audition. It's a great learning experience anytime.
Have you looked and listened in your local library to musicals? That's really the best way to find a song when you are auditioning. That or talking with a vocal coach/teacher who usually has a library of their own. That's what I would suggest you do.
If you use the library idea, you can find a song you like and also take it out to help you learn it. A couple of good alto musicals are Annie and White Christmas. Those might get you started.
Does that help you?
