Acting in Plays, Singing/Audtion Song

Question
Hi I am looking for a good song to use for an audition song for my school play of "Into the Woods", i am and alto and soprano- although my voice is kind of weird because when i sing from my chest i sound to rock and gospel, but when i use my head voice i think, i sound more elegant i guess. I am no sure because i have thought about "One Boy"- from Bye Bye Birdie, or "far from the home i love"- Fiddler on the Roof. But i love suggestions
O and some parts i guess would be Cinderella ( any of the girl parts)

Answer
   Hi Leslee

Go to your local music store or amazon.com and purchase The Singer's Musical Theatre Anthology (mezzo-soprano) versions.
You may also find it at your library.

I highly recommend it as a valuable investment for anyone who is going to be doing musical theatre.  I own all the soprano volumes myself.

Play around with the pieces in the anthology.  Find something that suits your voice and that makes you feel confident.  Practice!

It is hard to recommend a specific song without ever having heard you sing.  I would check out the anthologies and find one there.  Once you find something let me know what you pick and if you want audition tips.

Good luck!!
