About Natalie Amaya Expertise I can answer questions regarding vocal technique, auditions, live performance and television for Musical Theatre, pop, rock and some Latin music. I am not an expert on music theory. I do have some classical training but wouldn't consider myself an expert in classical music either. Please don't ask me any questions about which song you should sing for an audition unless you've already thought it out and you're deciding between a couple of them. With out hearing you sing, it's hard for me to randomly pick a good song for you.
I can answer questions in Spanish although my Spanish isn't perfect.
Experience I have performed in professional musical theatre regionally and in National Tours. I was on a television show called "Objetivo Fama" which is a Latin version of American Idol. I have also done a number of television commercials and promotional adds as well as studio recording. I have performed in concert internationally I currently perform in the Bay Area with a Latin Rock band. I also teach voice lessons in Alameda CA.

Question I am auditioning for High School Musical and I really want the part of Sharpay, and I have NO CLUE what vocal range the part is considered and I can not find any other song that even begins to resemble the sound.
Thank You SO much for sparing your time to answer my question. You are my musical audition savior =]
Answer Hi there, Great Question. High School Musical is very young and modern, it's not like every musical. You could probably use an upbeat pop song if you can find the music for it. I would also recommend trying one of Sophie's songs from Mama Mia. "What's the Name of the Game" is a great up beat, young song. Sophie's voice type is pretty similar to Sharpay's too. You could also try "If I Can't Have You" from Saturday Night Fever or "I can Hear the Bells" from Hairspray. There may be other songs that might work from any of the musicals I just mentioned. You should be able to find the music books for any of them online or in most music stores.
Sharpay is pretty much a mezzo belt role. It sounds a little higher because she has a very young sounding voice. I'm not sure of the exact vocal range of her character but I'm sure any of the songs I mentioned will be pretty close.
Good luck! I'm sure the show will be a lot of fun!
