Acting in Plays, Singing/Les Belles Soeurs

QuestionHi, this is my first time asking a question here. I'm an out-of-school actor taking a year off before college, and trying to be in as many productions as I can to increase my resume. I just found out about auditions for a local production of Les Belles Soeurs, but I know nothing about the play, and all of the copies at the library aren't due back until after the audition.
They're asking for a contemporary monologue no more than 3 minutes long, and I have no idea what kind of monologue they're looking for, because I don't know the content/context of the play. Could you point me in the right direction of plays to read for an appropriate monologue?
AnswerHi Stephanie...Thanks for writing. What you are doing is a really good idea! Keep getting experience.
One of the advantages of living today in the land of the internet is finding information when we can't get a book or something. I did a search on Les Belles Soeurs and found a link at

This will tell you a little more.
Be aware- this is a show with language like you've never heard. There is a lot of controversy around this show in that sense.
Contemporary monologues - they are monologues that are from the last 10 years. The more recent the better. And finding something too that is modern in content (so not historical content). If you go to the library, you will be able to find them. They sometimes even say "contemporary" on the description. In fact, I googled "contemporary monologues" and got lots.
Does that help you?
Let me know how it goes.
