Acting in Plays, Singing/audition

QuestionHi!
I am a thirteen year old girl who is hoping to audition for a pantomime in one week (short notice-I know!). I am an alto and I wondered if you could suggest a song (perferably from a well known musical) that I could sing.
Thank you!
AnswerHi Meli. Thanks for writing...
1 week? Oh my goodness. That is not a lot of time at all to prepare. Let's see what we can do...
As with others who have written who are looking for actual pieces to do, I am going to tell you as well that to choose a piece well for someone, it is not enough just to know that they are an alto or a soprano. There are other things to consider - experience, what they look like, how they perform,...
So I'm not going to give you any specific pieces. However, since you are only a week away from your audition, here are a couple musicals to check out that might give you something to work at (go to your local library to listen to them):
Annie
White Christmas
If you are not able to find anything at your library, find a local vocal coach or instructor and ask them for some help with finding a song.
I hope that helps. Let me know how it goes.
