Acting in Plays, Singing/duet

Question
Hi, My name is Jordan Smith.

I am trying to do a duet with a friend of mine for the school talent show and I was wondering if you had any advice on a song we could sing together.  I am a 2nd soprano and have a wide range and she is a 1st and has a very high range.  We would like something modern and up to date.  I can't seem to find anything like that partly because I don't know where to look.

If it is in your time limit,  please respond.

Thank you so much,

Jordan Smith

Answer
Hi there Jordan.  Thanks for writing.

One thing you might want to consider is looking at a variety of songs that you both like.

Are you able to harmonize?  If she could do the lead and you could harmonize with her, that would be one way to go.

The other way to go is maybe looking at a song that is in your range and then she could do harmony with you.

About a particular song, have you looked at the library for songs?  I am hesitant to suggest particular songs as I don't know your ability nor do I know what you look like.  But looking at some songs that you like and doing harmony for one another mixed with some solo work might be the way to go.

Does that help?
