Action Figures/GI Joes

Question
GI JOEs
GI JOEs
Hi David,

I have a box of GI Joe toys to include two dolls, four manuals, clothes, toys, the footlocker, and the original shipping box that I am looking to sell, but I would like to find them a good home, rather than put them in my garage sale.

Do you have any idea of the value, or anyone who may be interested in such a collection?

I was thinking I might put them on the usual online auction site. Is an auction site the best way?  I was also wondering if it is best to sell items like this as a whole lot, or piece by piece?
Thank you for any help.

Terry

Answer
Hello.  Thank you for the picture.  Many send no pics and ask questions I have no way of answering.  If I had this lot for sale I would keep it all together and sell as one unit.  If not I would sell the figs separate and the rest as one.  Either way would work out best for price.  Selling on line is still great.  Craigs list and you have to deal with the phone calls....Ebay and you deal with all the red tape that comes with them.  I have dealt with both.  If you want to send me some additional pics I can value the pieces better.  Rough guess would be the figs worth about $20 each...maybe a little more/less depending on stress cracks and actual age.  The rest worth $40-50.  Need to see them closer.  Total $80 or so retail.  May do better or worse depending on those questions.  Drop me some additional pics and I can do you a little better on estimates.  michaelandassoc@aol.com

Expertise

I am a graduate and self studied/taught expert in answering specific questions about vintage Star Wars and GI Joe figures, vehicles and misc. collectables. The reference to Star Wars 'vintage', to me, refers to the items which appeared from 1977 to 1985. Notice this also refers to the elusive items which were produced for the two cartoon series productions. 'Vintage' GI Joe items include only the 12 inch / 1:6 height variety produced proir to 1980. In most cases I should be able to identify an item by description. For approximates on value I of course would need some decent photos.

Experience

I have been a collector, buyer, seller and general fan, of vintage toys, for the last 30 years. My schooling and self study has included years of research and travel to various events. I have owned/still own numerous examles of many collections for study, research and comparison. I am still an avid trader, buyer and seller of these and several other high quality items.
