Question Hello, my name is Ken and I am doing a research project for my school. We have to find a career and research it, and I decided to come here and ask an expert on how to get into my desired field of work. I am very interested in having a career dealing with video games. I love gaming, and it is what I do in most of my spare time. First I wanted to know if you work for an actual company, and do you actually make the games. If you do not, which is fine, then there is really no point in reading the rest of this, lol. I was wondering what kind of education outside of regular schooling did you get? Also, I wanted to know if your job has long hours(about how many hours do you work a week)? And the last main question I have is about how much money do you make while in this career? Again, if you do not work for a company, and do things on your own, just e-mail me and tell me so, thanks. And even if you do not have any information about my questions, I would still like to know what games are your favorite. Thanks again for your time.
Answer Hi Ken,
I don't work for a computer company, this is just a side line for me, in real life I am an aircraft mechcanic, I started building computers for myself and a few friends, the word got around that I knew what I was doing and did good work (two wholly seperate things!) right now I spend about 20 hrs a week building gaming computers and doing updates for people. I do have a degree in electronics but that was for my chosen field (aircraft).
As an aircraft mechanic I make in the neighborhood of 65k, my side business (computer god, hehe) makes me on the average about 20k per year, that could be much more if I really applied myself but I already have a job that I really like.
