QuestionWhat is a good strategy for the map, de_aztec? I seem to not score any points on that map.
AnswerDe_Aztec... that seems to be one of the worst maps to play on. However I have a couple of suggestions that may help you.
If u are playing as a CT:
1> Always try to equip with both a flash bang and an HE grenade.
2> Try to arm with a distantly accurate weapon. M4A1 and AUG are perfect for these kind of tasks. This is a relatively large map with long halls and open spaces. Accuracy is a must.
3> If you are proficient with the AWP u can take up a couple of positions. The first place is in the water on the CT side, right near the metal bars. Most CT outfits blend easily into the dark background. You can also try a position at the stairs on the west side, or behind the boxes at the top looking down. (Make sure you have some backup... there is nothing worse than realizing that the entire Terrorist team is coming at you and u have an AWP)
4> REMEMBER this is a "defuse" map so that should be your objective. Don't go looking for a fight... wait for the bomb to be planted then go looking for the bomb. Watch you back as terrorists usually will camp the bomb until explosion. Walking should be your favorite thing to do. Try pulsing the shift key to walk/run. If you pulse it like that you'll be moving close to a run but silently.
If u are playing as a terrorist:
1> Always try to equip with both a flash bang and an HE grenade. (I can't stress these two pieces of equipment enough.)
2> You have 3 basic approaches as a terrorist.
a> You can attack the main wooden doors. (Strongly advise against this unless you have backup)
b> You can try to get across the rope bridge which allows a couple choices. One if the path is clear make your way across, head over to the CT spawn and try to move in behind the enemy. Or two if you run into opposition on the bridge. Hop Off!!! If you land in the water you will not suffer any damage and then you can head up the stairs on the right and flank the enemy from the side.
c> You can start in the water and head off to the right and go to bombsite "b" which is above the rope bridge area... or you can go straight and head for the bombsite "a" which is in front of the CT double doors. I suggest you take the route that seems least likely to cause a fight... remember it's always easier to pick people off after they've been in a fire fight.
Basic Hints/Tips:
1> Stick with a team mate. Two of you always increase the chances of you surviving the round.
2> Always try to buy armor even just the kevlar. It's cheap... but always buy HE grenades and flash bangs first. They'll get you out of tight places if you use them correctly.
3> Come play at 207.19.97.116:27140. This is where my clan and I usually can be found. If we aren't there the DoD guys will know where we currently are. Come play with us and I'll show you what I just outlined for you.
Thanks for the question!

P.S. Sorry this is so late... I've been out of town and forgot to set my status to out on vacation :(...
P.P.S If you need a map and some screen shots of the positions let me know and I'll create a website outlining what is discussed here!
